Biography
Gabe, originally from Brazil, moved to the United States during his freshman year of college. He earned his B.S. in Neuroscience with a minor in Psychology from the University of Iowa in 2022, focusing his undergraduate honors thesis on the neurobiology of drug addiction. Gabe joined the Marcinkiewcz lab in July 2022 as a Research Assistant and was later promoted to Research Associate. In this role, he investigates the interplay between tau pathology in serotonin neurons and sleep homeostasis in Alzheimer's disease. Outside the lab, Gabe enjoys staying active, with a particular passion for soccer and tennis.
