Louis Kolling, PhD

Biography
Louis served 6 years as a combat medic in the Army before moving to Wichita, KS, which is near the small farm town where he grew up. Louis received a B.A. in Exercise Science, followed by a B.G.S. in Chemistry with minors in Mathematics and Biological Sciences from Wichita State University. He then earned a Ph.D. in Molecular Biophysics from Florida State University, where he used in vivo CRISPR editing to interrogate metabolic circuitry. In July 2022, he joined the Marcinkiewcz Lab to study neurodegeneration of the serotonin system. His hobbies include hiking, playing with his dogs, and competitive powerlifting. Louis currently co-hosts The Vets First Podcast with Dr. Levi Sowers.
